I am often asked what skills and abilities a robotics engineer should have. The question is perhaps a bit philosophical, because robotics is an interdisciplinary science and a competent robotics engineer should have knowledge in mathematics, physics, mechatronics, electronics, programming, knowledge of English, as well as knowledge in related fields.
At the same time, it is possible to distinguish 15 basic skills necessary for a work technician:
- Systems thinking
- Programmer mentality
- The ability for self-learning
- Mathematical ability
- Knowledge of physics and applied mathematics
- Ability to analyze and make decisions
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge and ability to apply design technology
- Be able to solve complex problems
- Be persistent
- Developed spatial thinking
- Knowledge of modern materials
- Curiosity
- Ability to work in a multitasking environment
- Ability to set goals and achieve them
